Joint SGA Statement on Charlottesville Event

We, the Student Government Associations of the Georgia Institute of Technology, unequivocally condemn and reject hate-driven actions of groups that spread racism, bigotry, and intolerance. We stand in solidarity with the Charlottesville community and the University of Virginia in fighting this hatred with compassion, and ignorance with knowledge. Georgia Tech’s diverse community is central to our excellence and we will stand strong with academic communities across the U.S. against ignorance, fear, and intimidation. As proud students of the University System of Georgia, we are dedicated to working with administrators, system leaders, and the broader community to ensure diversity and safety at our University as we continue our academic mission. Standing together, our University will always support new and returning students, faculty, and staff from across the U.S. and the world in their pursuit to build a better, more just society.
