President/Vice President Candidates

Hunter Richardson and Noah Pastula

Hunter Richardson

Presidential Candidate

Hi, Yellow Jackets! My name is Hunter Richardson, and I am a 4th year Computer Science and Business Administration double major from New Orleans, Louisiana. Currently, I serve as the Vice President of Academic Affairs for the Undergraduate SGA, a position I have held for the past three administrations. Throughout my time in SGA, I have advocated for and represented students on a wide variety of academic issues in 150+ committee meetings, discussing topics like progressively modifying course registration logistics, curricular improvements, and regulatory and policy changes. Outside of SGA, I am a teaching assistant for both the Office of Undergraduate Education (OUE) for the GA Legislative Requirements and the Scheller College of Business. I am running to be your next SGA President alongside Noah Pastula, and we are committed to your success. You deserve a strong, experienced student government leadership team that is committed to bringing about meaningful change. Crucial to the success of any SGA administration is having a pair of seasoned candidates who have developed a deep understanding of administrative advocacy and the zeitgeist of the Georgia Tech community– candidates who will put you, your organizations, and your campus first. We are exactly that. Having spent a combined 4 years in the Executive Cabinet and 7 combined in SGA, no executive ticket in recent memory has had more experience than us. The nuanced campus views and ideas we have developed over our tenures are well reflected in both the work we currently do in our roles as Vice President of Academic Affairs and Speaker of the House, as well as in our robust and extremely developed policy for next year. Our platform is carefully designed around our understanding of the Georgia Tech student as an individual, as a member of student organizations, and as a part of the greater campus. Purely from a quantitative approach, we have the most experience in SGA; however, don’t let our resumes lead you to believe that we will simply maintain the status quo. The new initiatives and modifications outlined in our policies will enable SGA to be a transparent and effective vehicle of the student opinion while addressing head-on the obstacles we have identified first-hand throughout prior administrations. Thus, I graciously ask for your support for our campaign so that we can serve you best in the upcoming year. Go Jackets!

Noah Pastula

Vice Presidential Candidate

Yellow Jackets! I am thrilled to announce my candidacy for Executive Vice President alongside my running mate Hunter Richardson. Hailing from Long Island, New York, I came to Georgia Tech to study Mechanical Engineering, at the time unaware of the vibrant campus community that I now call home. I currently serve as the Speaker of the Undergraduate House of Representatives, directly interfacing with the largest number of students in our association. I have focused my time on expanding access, involvement, and retention and streamlining internal processes across branches as head of the legislative branch. I have also served in several other roles including as President of the Georgia Tech Europe campus, Sophomore and Junior Representative, and Secretary of the House, which have only strengthened my knowledge of the needs of the Georgia Tech student body. Outside of SGA, I am passionate about giving back to the community, and, last year, raised over $34,000 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. It is an honor to be running for your Executive Vice President alongside Hunter, and I know that our administration will be the timely, effective leadership our campus needs.Prior administrations have marketed their platforms around core ideas or buzzwords that inevitably depreciated in meaning at some point during their terms. Rather, we have chosen to market ourselves at the face value of our ideas because we are confident in their ability to meet the needs of the student body. Each of our 30+ actionable goals across 12 different areas reflects our commitment to serving every single dynamic, diverse, hardworking student. Our team will not waste time suggesting unfeasible ideas– in preparation for this campaign, we discussed with many different stakeholders the reality of our promises, and this preparation is the first of many examples of leveraging the campus networks we have to better serve the student body. We firmly believe the policies we have developed are the best way forward for the Georgia Tech student body and that, alongside a like-minded and diverse cabinet, we are the best people to see it through. Consequently, we are honored to be running for your next SGA administration.

Sultan Ziyad and Xiomara Salinas

Sultan Ziyad

Presidential Candidate

Greetings, Yellow Jackets! The time has come for our next campus leadership election and the chance to ensure Georgia Tech leads the way while providing students a larger voice. I am thrilled to tell you about me and why I want to serve you as your next Student Body President.

I am Sultan Ziyad, a third-year Civil Engineering student from Atlanta, Georgia. I met many of you when I had the privilege of delivering the 2023 Freshman Convocation Speech, co-leading SGA’s 2024 Wreck the Vote initiative, facilitating the Scholarship Sunday series, and more. I am honored to be seeking your support for SGA Student Body President. Since my first semester on campus, my number one priority has been supporting and uplifting students academically, financially, and socially. That aim is reflected in the positions I have held in various campus organizations, including student government. More importantly, it is reflected in the specific programs, events, and initiatives I have created and improved to serve students’ needs. It is also why I am seeking your support.

I intend to DRIVE this great organization forward with a new vision. This vision requires a leader who understands both the student experience at all levels and how to meet students where they are. This vision requires a leader whose experience spans organizations of all sizes, serving and representing a variety of campus communities. This vision requires a leader who places you, the students, at the forefront of all decision-making, planning, and execution. With Xiomara Salinas as my running mate, our vision for the future of SGA is built on D.R.I.V.E.

D – Develop SGA to Champion Change
R – Respond to Students Swiftly
I – Improve Service to Student Organizations
V – Voice Student Views to Faculty
E – Establish SGA’s Standard of Excellence

Our strategic plan, released by our campaign, outlines the scope, primary objectives, and specific actions for all areas SGA covers. It is our plan for you, shaped by the D.R.I.V.E. guiding principles listed above.

If you are reading this as an undecided voter who has never interacted with me, I hope I can gain your trust. My commitment to solving problems and addressing your needs has been and will be unwavering. I will not settle for complacency. When faced with a roadblock, I will not be discouraged but emboldened to try again. The Student Government Association is a large, complex, constantly evolving entity that wields tremendous influence on campus. When there is a will, there is a way. I humbly ask for your vote and will do everything in my power to enrich your student experience.

Xiomara Salinas

Vice Presidential Candidate

Hey everyone! With the start of the 2025 elections for Georgia Tech’s Student Government Association, I want to take a moment to share my campaign vision centered on serving and representing the voices of the student body. I am excited to introduce myself and tell you why I am running to be your next Executive Vice President!

My name is Xiomara Salinas, and I am a second-year Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering student from Houston, Texas. Since my first semester at Georgia Tech, my main focus has been building connections across campus. Whether it has been through leadership roles, student organizations, or just meeting new people throughout the university, I have enjoyed finding ways to engage with this community shaped by its driven students.

Over the last few semesters, I have been involved in various student organizations and have seen firsthand the power of students coming together with a shared goal. I first joined SGA as a member of the Joint Finance Committee, helping allocate the Student Activity Fee to over 400 student organizations. Now, as Infrastructure Committee Chair, I work closely with students and university administration to advocate for campus infrastructure, accessibility, and safety improvements, ensuring our campus meets the needs of all students.

These experiences have shaped the way I view leadership, not as a title, but as a responsibility to listen, advocate, and take action. That is exactly why I am running to be your next SGA Vice President! SGA should be more than just a governing body. It should be a resource, a support system, and most importantly, a voice for students. I want to make sure this organization is working with students, not just for them. With Sultan Ziyad as my running mate, our vision for the future of SGA is built on D.R.I.V.E.

D – Develop SGA to Champion Change
R – Respond to Students Swiftly
I – Improve Service to Student Organizations
V – Voice Student Views to Faculty
E – Establish SGA’s Standard of Excellence

I am running for Vice President because I believe SGA should truly represent you: your voice, your needs, and your vision for this university. With our leadership, Georgia Tech’s Student Government Association can be a force for meaningful change, shaped by the students it serves. I would be honored to earn your trust, your support, and your vote to make this vision a reality! Together, let’s DRIVE this organization forward!

Dhruv Kulkarni and Kyra Stillwagon

Dhruv Kulkarni

Presidential Candidate

Before my first semester at Tech, I swapped majors from biology to LMC. I did it on a whim because I enjoyed creative writing and wanted to enter education, but being a liberal arts major at Tech introduced me to unique ways of integrating technology into art. These two fields aren’t separate– they feed into each other in interesting and complementary ways. Over the past four years, I’ve immersed myself in the arts on campus through DramaTech and origami club. Being surrounded by engineers and scientists has made me appreciate being a liberal arts major at Tech more and more, and I joined the SGA arts committee to begin better integrating the arts on campus. I want to be a voice that speaks on behalf of the arts at Tech, and fosters connections across the campus and city.

Kyra Stillwagon

Vice Presidential Candidate

When I first joined Georgia Tech, I knew this school was where I was supposed to be. Even as a liberal arts student, I saw the benefit in combining both STEM and the arts. Joining the campus, I made a home for myself in DramaTech. But even as I lived at this intersection, the rest of campus had clearly not caught up. Whether it was career fairs targeted at anyone but us, dilapidated liberal arts buildings, or arts organizations losing funding, it is time for a change. Not only this, but students should feel empowered to make this change for themselves. I am committed to strengthening our relationships with the Atlanta community, empowering arts on campus, and building a sustainable future for this campus.

I am running to be your junior class representative for the 2025-2026 school year. I recently served as Sophomore Representative for the Fall 2024 semester and I am spending this semester studying abroad at Georgia Tech Europe. SGA was an amazing and fulfilling experience for me and I am excited for the opportunity to come back and keep serving our Georgia Tech community. While SGA has made some great changes on campus, I realize that there are several issues that still need to be addressed, and I am willing to work with students to hear their concerns and find solutions. Having a role within the House of Representatives positions me to best advocate for student voices and make positive change on campus. In addition to my experience as Sophomore Representative last year, my experiences in Model United Nations and as a leader in various academic clubs in high school give me the skillset to excel at respectful debate and policy discussion. With these tools and my lived experience on the Georgia Tech campus, I hope to advocate for junior students at Georgia Tech, prioritizing inclusivity, academic success, and a positive campus experience. I’m grateful for the opportunity to continue serving the student body and hope to make my own contributions to your positive moments in your time at Georgia Tech. In the demanding environment at Georgia Tech, this is easy to overlook, and I’m dedicated to ensuring that every student has access to the resources they need to thrive mentally. One of my more specific goals is to advocate for increased counselor availability on campus. I am also genuinely passionate about fostering diversity, equality, and inclusion on campus. Every voice matters, and every community deserves representation. I’m truly determined to be a strong advocate for those who feel unheard. Allow me to be your voice in the SGA, and I promise to work tirelessly to make sure your concerns are heard and addressed. Together, I hope to create a campus where every student feels valued and supported.

My time in the SGA has been a success, and I want to continue this journey to make a real impact. My goal is to improve the overall student experience in campus facilities, student well-being, and academic support.  In the last four months, I have actively worked to bring student concerns to the forefront, making hundreds of inquiries across different parts of SGA. Jeanne Yoon

Sophomore Representative Candidate

As a Sophomore Representative, I will strive to promote diversity, inclusion, connectivity, and involvement among our student body. To achieve this, I will advocate for events and initiatives throughout the school year that are specifically geared toward the sophomore class, ensuring that everyone has an equal opportunity to network and engage with one another. One example of an initiative I could propose is organized gatherings where second-year students can connect with upperclassmen in their major to gain valuable insight into courses, internships, and job opportunities based on real experiences. I would also like to propose more bills supporting sophomore social & professional networking events so that you all have more frequent opportunities to connect outside of academic settings. Serving as a Freshman Representative for nearly a year has given me firsthand experience in what it means to represent students in the UHR branch of SGA at Georgia Tech. Over the past school year, I have upheld my duties of being a representative by attending UHR meetings every week and voting on/passing bills, holding office hours 1-2 times a month for my constituents, and providing resources such as a monthly newsletter through our Instagram platform @gtfreshreps. If elected as a Sophomore Rep, I plan to offer expanded office hours & feedback channels for my fellow classmates, truly dedicating my time to ensure that every student feels represented to the best of my ability. Above all, I believe that every member of our class should have a voice in what happens on campus. Your opinions should not only be heard regularly, but also acted upon when necessary. I plan to continue investing in my role as I have done before, directly seeking your ideas, concerns, and suggestions to bring to the House. A goal that I have moving forward is to make student government more approachable and transparent so that everyone feels empowered to share their ideas and see them put into action. I understand the influence and responsibility that representatives in the Undergraduate House hold, and I intend to use my position to ensure that our Sophomore class has a successful, immersive, and impactful second year at Tech.

I am the perfect candidate for this position because I face challenges with an open mind and am determined to see how I can help make this campus a place for every student to thrive academically and socially. I will push for promoting networking opportunities, work-life balance initiatives, and overall improvements in student life. So far, my involvements include being the junior Panhellenic delegate for the Alpha Phi sorority, a circle of sisterhood member, and a mentor in the investments committee. These experiences have taught me the importance of representation, service, and teamwork in driving meaningful change. Overall, I am continuously inspired by the student body and would consider myself lucky if selected to serve as a representative for my undergraduate class!

Aerospace Engineering Representative Candidates

Nia Thompson

Aerospace Engineering Representative Candidate

Hi! My name is Nia Thompson, and I am currently a second year Aerospace Engineering major here at Georgia Tech! Since being on campus, I’ve been an active advocate for strengthening the presence of STEM programs in minority communities through volunteering with both the National Society of Black Engineers and the Women of Aeronautics and Astronautics. I also serve as Secretary of AeroAfroAstro, an organization focused on connecting and strengthening the aerospace community by providing resources for success. Being able to participate in initiatives such as these has given me the constant honor of representing and promoting not only Georgia Tech, but also the possibilities of engineering. As an undergraduate representative I hope to continue this mission by working toward the ensured, continued development of resources catered to AE students, promote funding for Aerospace related initiatives on campus, and advocate for underrepresented groups within the Georgia Tech AE community. My uniquely molded experience here would be accurately shown in my representation of the school, and I hope to be able to do so in a position such as this.

Joshua Ferrier

Aerospace Engineering Representative Candidate

As one of the current Aerospace Engineering Representatives in SGA, I have actively worked to ensure that AE students and organizations receive the financial and logistical support they need. Throughout my four years at Georgia Tech, I’ve gained firsthand experience in a variety of AE-related organizations, allowing me to understand and advocate for the unique needs of our community. My involvement with the Georgia Tech Experimental Rocketry Team, Space Systems Design Laboratory, the Yellow Jacket Space Program, and AeroAfroAstro has given me valuable perspective on how crucial it is for the school to back Aerospace students in both academics and extracurricular activities. With your vote, I will continue to advocate for AE students by securing SGA funding for key organizations like YJSP and GTXR, increasing our representation in SGA, and ensuring that the specific needs of the AE student body are heard by faculty and administration. Thank you for your time and consideration!

Zain Pastula

Aerospace Engineering Representative Candidate

Aerospace Engineering has been and continues to be one of my biggest passions – it’s a niche field with numerous applications in the well established aviation field and in the rapidly developing space industry. One of my aspirations is to foster this passion and in as many Georgia Tech Aerospace Engineering students and leave non-AE major students with a sense of appreciation for the field. I intend to work with AE organizations such as Sigma Gamma Tau (where I serve on the board), SAESAC, WOAA, and more to aid in the development of students’s knowledge in the field through company events, meetings with GT AE alumni, or even have informational tours/sessions about the campus facilities and AE Engineering groups such as YJSP, GTXR, DBF, etc.. Having served on the Co-Op committee as Professional Development Chair at Delta Air Lines, I would like to implement strategies and take inspiration from events held over there. In addition, as someone with a disability, my intention is to increase awareness for our needs and special circumstances amongst all faculty and students as well.

Athletes Representative Candidates

Kyler-Adam Cross

Athletes Representative Candidate

As a current dedicated member of SGA’s UHR and a lifelong student-athlete, I passionate about continuing to represent the student body. I hope to be able to represent the voices of others that would otherwise not be heard. Your support means stronger representation, and I am ready to serve.

Dhwani Patel

Biochemistry Representative Candidate

Hi! I’m Dhwani Patel, and I’m a 3rd-year Biochemistry major on the Pre-med track. I’m from Columbus, GA (~2 hours south of Atlanta). I have been serving as the Biochemistry major representative for UHR for the past year and would love the opportunity to continue representing my constituents! I have really enjoyed my time so far on SGA. I’ve learned so much, and this experience has really given me the chance to engage with the GT community. It’s been such an honor to serve on SGA and to represent the GT Biochemistry majors. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this, and I hope you’ll consider voting for me to remain your Biochemistry major Representative! 🙂

Biology Representative Candidates

Emma Leigh Bossard

Biology Representative Candidate

As a biology student, I have gotten the opportunity to get involved in research with the Goodisman research group and would like to help make research more accessible to the students in the School of Sciences. I struggled to find a research opportunity when I first got to Tech, and would like to make that process easier. Doing undergraduate research has been the best part of my undergraduate career thus far, and plan to help other students have an experience as great as mine.

Medina McCowin

Biology Representative Candidate

My name is Medina McCowin, and I am running for Biology representative for Georgia Tech’s SGA. As the incumbent, I have already started working to increase the efficacy, accessibility, and inclusivity of the Biology program, but there is more to do. I have spent almost two years as a teaching assistant for the School of Biological Sciences, so I have seen areas where professors and teaching assistants need support. I will start by establishing a mentorship program within CETL courses to prepare future Biology Teaching Assistants, while also collaborating with current Biology professors in introductory classes to develop resources for new TAs to streamline recitations and review sessions. I also plan to work with the Office of Disability Services and the Center for Inclusive Design and Innovation to proactively create accessible study materials for introductory Biology classes to minimize the time needed to create resources for incoming students. This way, students taking introductory Biology classes (regardless of their major) will be supported from the start, and professors and teaching assistants will have the necessary resources to help students. Finally, I aim to increase the population of incoming Biology majors and foster a supportive network of future scientists by working with current biology-focused clubs to connect with local high schools and their science-related extracurriculars. While the Biology community at Georgia Tech is smaller than other majors, I believe there are more than enough of us to create a meaningful, supportive, and progressive community that I feel prepared to represent.

Joshua Weems

Biology Representative Candidate

I stand for connecting people and giving everyone the best opportunity to succeed. I would like for students of my constituency to have opportunities that would help them with their goals while being at Tech and after they graduate. I would represent Biology students’ and do my best to give opportunities to the students of my constituency and to all of the student body.

My passion for community-based initiatives has shaped my experiences, from leading health literacy projects at local community health clinics to merging social entrepreneurship and innovation through my research. My work with Engineers Without Borders has given me a broader perspective on service and advocacy, and it is my commitment to these principles that drives me to enrich the student experience and create meaningful change.

Nicholas Chang

Business Administration Representative Candidate

Hey everyone! My name is Nico Chang I’m from St. Louis, Missouri and I am running to be your Scheller College of Business representative. With leadership experience as Vice President of my high school and an exec position at the Undergraduate Consulting Club, I bring the experience, communication skills, and work ethic needed to effectively represent Scheller students. Since coming to Georgia Tech, I’ve been inspired by the incredible opportunities at Scheller, and I truly believe our business school is on the rise (and better than uga’s business school). With your support, I want to ensure we continue to grow and improve. I will do this by making sure every Scheller student has a voice, taking up issues and feedback directly from you guys to SGA. Additionally, I will make sure our resources are allocated to creating a future for our students through professional and alumni networking events and panels. Finally, I seek to create more fun events for our students to get to know each other better which could include sports tournaments, networking dinners, and more. Noah Pearce

Hello, I am second year student at Scheller from Roswell, Georgia. I am running for SGA to represent Schellers students’ interests, and to improve the block system at football games.

Abdurahman Repole

Business Administration Representative Candidate

As a second-year business administration student at Georgia Tech with a strong background in leadership and hands-on experience, I am committed to representing my peers with transparency, dedication, and a focus on practical solutions. Through my involvement as an Eagle Scout, I honed the skills of communication, problem-solving, and advocating for others—all of which are crucial for effectively serving as your House Representative. Additionally, my experience working on a construction project as a manager taught me the importance of collaboration and leadership in achieving shared goals. I aim to bring those same qualities to the SGA, advocating for initiatives that support our academic and professional growth while ensuring our voices are always heard. I would be honored to have your vote to help build a stronger, more connected business administration community at Georgia Tech.

Christian Escarment

I am committed to making a meaningful impact on our campus by advocating for transparency, financial responsibility, and student-driven initiatives. With experience in many leadership roles and a passion for fostering collaboration, I aim to ensure that business student voices are heard and that resources are allocated effectively to support academic and professional growth. By voting for me, you are choosing a representative who will work to enhance student opportunities, streamline processes, and create a more engaging environment for all business students.

Semaj Johnson II

Business Administration Representative Candidate

As a second-year business student in the Denning Technology & Management (T&M) program, I know how fast-paced and demanding life can be for business students. Between classes, networking events, and career prep, it’s easy to feel disconnected. That’s why I’m running to make sure business students not only stay informed about the amazing opportunities on campus but also feel a real sense of community.

I’ve had experience representing students in different ways. Whether it’s engaging with corporate leaders through T&M, working as a Tech Dining Ambassador to improve student services, or organizing events through the GT Musician’s Network. On a larger scale, I’ve worked on a U.S. Senate campaign as a data analyst and fellow, where I helped with policy outreach and community engagement. That experience gave me insight into government processes and how to advocate for people effectively. If elected, I’ll work to make sure business students are heard, informed, and connected. Whether it’s pushing for better resources, raising awareness about challenges, or helping students find their place in this fast-moving environment.

Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering Representative Candidates

Naomi Belay

Chemical and Biomolecular Representative Candidate

I am running for the position of Chemical Engineering Academic Representative because I want to make success of every kind more achievable for students. Pressure to perform, especially at an institution as rigorous as ours, can make it difficult to balance academic and professional pursuits with other more personal pursuits. I’ve experienced that myself, and I am committed to making balance more attainable by providing students with the support they need to succeed in all facets of life and as active members of their community. I believe that by fostering greater interaction among students and with the school, we can create a more enriching academic experience. It would be a privilege to represent you and make our school a place where every student can thrive. I appreciate your vote and the opportunity to serve. Thank you for your consideration.

Chemistry Representative Candidates

Amelia England

Chemistry Representative Candidate

Hello, I’m Amelia! I’m a second year chemistry major here at Georgia Tech, and I’m very excited to be running for office this spring. I’m the brohood (social) chair of Georgia Tech’s co-ed chemical sciences fraternity, Alpha Chi Sigma, and I’m heavily involved in research as I have worked with University of Alaska Fairbanks’ College of Fisheries and Ocean Science, Alaska Sea Grant, NASA, North Pacific Research Board, NSF, CASFER, and Georgia Tech Research Institute (Food Processing Technologies Division).I stand for equity within the chemical sciences as I believe that everyone belongs in the lab, regardless of background or perspective. Innovation in STEAM only occurs if everyone is allowed a seat at the table, thus making discrimination of any kind unacceptable. I believe that undergraduate research experience is crucial for students across all majors as it equips them with hand-on skills that will be valuable throughout their careers. Because of this, I think it’s extremely important that students have the resources and opportunities to be able to participate in research activities, whether this is accessibility to the positions themselves or opportunities to practice interview skills or learn how to format resumes and cover letters. I strongly believe that education is the foundation of the future, and as Georgia Tech students we should be participating in community outreach and events that equip K-12 students with the confidence and necessary resources to continue pursuing STEAM careers.

Alexander Cordovado

Chemistry Representative Candidate

Hi everyone, my name is Alex Cordovado and I am a 3rd year chemistry major interested in rerunning for the position of SGA chemistry representative. For the past 4 months, I have served as the incumbent chemistry representative and am on SGA’s internal financial data committee, both of which have been deeply rewarding experiences. I hope to continue this, allowing for all students within the major to have a voice within the student government association regardless of their background or time spent at Georgia Tech. In addition to serving as the current representative, I also serve as the MA (president) of Alpha Chi Sigma, Georgia Tech’s professional co-ed chemistry fraternity, and secretary-treasurer for the polymer undergraduate network of students. Along with this, I have been a teaching assistant for general chemistry and synthesis lab I for the past 2 years and have been involved with undergraduate research for almost my entire time at Georgia Tech. Through these experiences, I have had the opportunity to continuously interact with chemistry majors from a wide range of backgrounds and hope to continue my mission of making student government accessible to anyone interested and helping to build a more positive student experience at Georgia Tech.

Civil Engineering Representative Candidates

Naomi Bodean

Civil Engineering Representative Candidate

If I were to choose one word to describe civil engineering students, it would be passionate. In nearing my two years at tech, I never fail to find inspiration in my peers, everyone I meet has an innate drive and genuine care for some aspect of civil engineering. If elected, that exact passion is what I want to represent and amplify. Ranked the number one civil program in the country, we have a lot to show for ourselves, but there is always room for growth. I want to hear everyone’s concerns and aspirations and I want to make them happen, that is how we will grow. Community is one of our core values and greatest strengths, and I want my community to be heard. We have some of the most notable alumni to come out of Georgia Tech for a reason, and I believe we will continue to do so with the right support. So let’s continue this legacy and move into the future together!

Abraham Werner

Civil Engineering Representative Candidate

Hello! My name is Abraham Werner and I am thrilled to potentially continue representing Civil Engineering. In addition to Civil, I am pursuing an Applied Languages and Intercultural Studies double major, with a minor in International Affairs. Our campus has grown extensively, with innovative current infrastructure development, and exciting plans for the future. As a student assistant with the Office of Infrastructure and Sustainability, I have been able to see designs and plans for these changes, and offer my perspective not only as a student, but as the current Civil Engineering Representative in SGA. My commitment to you, Civil Engineering students, is to ensure that the members of our major, all of whom hold a high degree of experience and qualification, are in those rooms where infrastructure decisions are being made. As the #1 ranked university for civil engineering in the country, there is no reason CE students should not be directly involved in the engineering of the campus we call home. These promises do not come unfounded. My extensive experience in SGA began my freshman year as the International Affairs representative where I advocated for and led initiatives focused on our Institute’s government relations, and contributed to the reworking of SGA’s governing documents. This past year, proudly serving as the Civil Engineering representative, I have worked to include our infrastructure and sustainability committees in administrative conversations, advocating and carrying out listening sessions for our upcoming Transportation Master Plan as well as recording student opinions and data for future transportation projects. As your liaison to SGA, RSOs, and administration, I will continue and expand these efforts. In addition to the aforementioned experience, I am a member of SGA House Leadership as Secretary of UHR, a member of various committees, and a student assistant with Institute Communications. I humbly ask for your vote to help me continue my advocacy, and help ALL of us advance as engineers. Together, we can create an interconnected, innovated, and resilient student body and campus.

Computational Media Representative Candidates

Michelle Moise

Computational Media Representative Candidate

Hello! My name is Michelle Moise and I am a senior Computational Media major in hopes of becoming your Computational Media Representative. I am committed to advocating for our student body regardless of their background and especially for my fellow CM peers by ensuring that all CM students will receive proper recognition and resources to thrive academically. Often our major is overlooked and outcasted due to the lack of knowledge of hard work and efforts of many students that came before me. However, I will work to amplify our voices both within SGA and across campus, even for those outside of my major. As a member of both academic and creative organizations such as the Black Student Computing Organization and GT Creatives, I am passionate for increasing student expression on campus, creating a culture for creativity aside from our constant academic focus. I see Computational Media as a blend of culture, media, perspective, and technology, and I want to share that vision amongst the student body, recognizing that there is beauty and various pathways outside of just coding. As your CM representative, I hope to not only help with bridging the gap and unifying both CS and CM majors together, but to support diversity amongst the student body.

Jaime Alonso

Computer Science Representative Candidate

As an international student and a member of the Global Leadership LLC here on campus, I know how difficult it is to adapt to the Georgia Tech environment. Both the rigorous syllabus of a major like Computer Science and the uncertainty of choosing our career path in the first year of college. I want to support the entire CS body in having the best experience possible for the duration of our major. My key proposals are for more student resources like study locations, and accessible peripherals like monitors, keyboards, and mice. Moreover, I want to increase the number of workshops where mentors and experienced alumni can give insights and tips to undergraduate students who are uncertain about what they want to pursue at Tech. Please consider voting for me to have an inclusive, welcoming, and motivating CS community.

Electrical Engineering Representative Candidates

Aaron Shansab

Electrical Engineering Representative Candidate

I will bridge the gap between students and research opportunities, ensuring that everyone — regardless of major or experience — has access to hands on learning that enhances their academic and career goals. Students struggle to break out of their shell and actively look for research opportunities on campus, even if there are positions available. I will advocate for a centralized platform where faculty can easily share openings and students can seamlessly apply, as well as push for more funding and mentorship programs to support undergraduate researchers.

Environmental Engineering Representative Candidates

Additionally, I am able to relate to the challenges and experiences we endure, which helps in addressing the needs of the students of industrial engineering more effectively. Quincy Howard

Industrial and Systems Engineering Representative Candidate

My name is Quincy Howard, and I am a senior Industrial Engineering student at the Institute. I would love to be your next Industrial Engineering Representative for SGA! There are many initiatives that I stand for and changes I would love to embrace. Some of those things include transparency, campus leadership being approachable and accessible, and lastly promoting unity in campus diversity. For the idea of transparency, I believe all students deserve a clear understanding of campus issues and funding as well as how decisions are made and how they may affect you. For example, there have been a few changes to the ISYE website regarding DEI, and it is my job to get clarity on that.  As far as accessibility, I believe it is important for campus leaders to be open to new ideas and become a balanced voice for the public. Lastly, through the Impact LLC, GT Challenge, and other programs I’ve been a part of on campus, I have learned that diversity opens doors to new experiences. Therefore, I would love to see more collaborations between different organizations on campus to spark growth and learn more about different backgrounds outside my own. Although I am headed toward the back end of my Georgia Tech career, it would be an honor to be a servant and voice for the student body, and I would really appreciate your support!

Let’s be honest—Being an INTA student at Georgia Tech often leaves us feeling overlooked. We don’t get the same opportunities, the same recognition, the same respect. We deserve better! Zoe Taratsas

International Affairs Representative Candidate

As a liberal arts student, and as an international affairs representative, I will strive to promote events and programming that will support the non-stem majors here at GA Tech. In order to achieve this, I will advocate for more liberal arts-oriented events during the school year that give everyone an opportunity to network and meet employers that are not exclusively looking for engineering or stem students. For example, I will advocate that the research department work on finding non-Stem students to be research ambassadors who can help Ivan Allen students find internal and external research opportunities. Opportunities such as these are very important to me, and I know how frustrating it can be that GA Tech provides so little information on how to get involved in projects that are applicable in Social Science field. In addition, I firmly believe in the importance of fostering a diverse and inclusive academic environment. As your representative, I will work to ensure that all voices are heard and that resources are equally accessible to students from every major. By promoting interdisciplinary collaboration and showcasing the invaluable contributions of liberal arts students, I aim to bridge the gap between different fields of study and create a more cohesive, supportive campus community. My commitment to transparency and open communication means that I will actively seek out your input and work tirelessly to address your concerns. Vote for me, and together we can elevate the liberal arts experience at GA Tech, making it a place where every student can thrive and succeed.

My goal is to improve communication, create more opportunities for cultural exchange, and help make campus feel like home for all of us.

Literature, Media, and Communication Representative Candidate

Hi, Yellow Jackets! My name is Katie Strickland (she/her), and I am a current second-year LMC major. I am passionate about amplifying my fellow students’ voices! As the LMC Representative, I will ensure our tight-knit community is heard and every student has access to the best opportunities possible. The skills LMC majors develop—strong communication, media literacy, and critical thinking—are essential in any field of study and crucial to success before entering the workforce. Some of my biggest initiatives include advocating for more cross-disciplinary opportunities across majors, increasing outreach to prospective students, and preparing LMC students for post-graduation paths. My experiences in student journalism and government affairs have prepared me to create effective change in Georgia Tech’s Student Government. I am involved in campus organizations like The Blueprint Yearbook, Jackets for Justice, and The Technique Newspaper. I was also the first LMC major to participate in the GTDC: Pathways to Policy program, which allowed me to work on Capitol Hill while taking PUBP and INTA courses. Outside of school, you will likely catch me with a book in hand and headphones in, listening to my favorite music. I would be honored to serve as your LMC Representative to strengthen our community and its future!

Mohamed Sami Zemzami

Mechanical Engineering Representative Candidate

As an international mechanical engineering student, I have traveled away from home in search of a better understanding of my passion of mechanical engineering. I believe these are key factors in shaping engineers of the future and ,if elected, would aim to shape and act in accordance with these values. As a spokesperson, I would like to advocate for improved academic and professional opportunities to help every engineer achieve their full potential. I believe that my history allows me to be a good advocate for the student body given my analytical mindset and commitment to efficiency.

Neuroscience Representative Candidates

Harshin Vijay

Neuroscience Representative Candidate

Hey, I’m Harshin Vijay and I am running to be an Undergraduate Neuroscience Representative. I am incredibly passionate about this major and truly immersed myself in everything that this major has to offer. I am an active member of the Student Neuroscience Association and serve on the Neuroscience Student Advisory Council as the Assistant Director of the Neuroscience Symposium. The Neuroscience program at Georgia Tech is a relatively new program with many multidisciplinary applications. I have a keen interest in developing this program into a major that can give undergraduates skillsets in economics, ethics, computer science, and much more! I have enjoyed the freedom that this major offers and have begun taking classes that introduce new skills in other disciplines that I never could have had in a different major. I am also passionate about expanding Georgia Tech’s impact on Neuroscience in the Atlanta area and strive for us to be at the forefront of Neuroscience research and major events through collaborations with Emory and GSU Neuroscience programs.

Chelsea Thompson

Neuroscience Representative Candidate

Hi! My name is Chelsea Thompson and I am a third year neuroscience major here at Tech. As a student on the pre-med track and undergraduate researcher, I am passionate about addressing health inequity and advancing biomedical technology within the field of neuro-oncology. If elected to serve as one of your representatives, I fully intend to bring that same passion and dedication to the execution of my role. One of my primary goals as your representative would be to build a stronger sense of community within our major and to cultivate more opportunities for students to connect with each other and with faculty members outside of the classroom. There is so much value to be derived from each and every diverse perspective that resides within each neuroscience student here at Tech, and I would love to use that strength to help build an even more vibrant learning community within our major. Above all, I would love to use my platform as a means to create a space where every individual studying neuroscience at Tech feels like they belong, and has access to the resources needed to reach their full potential during their time here. I want to make sure that our department is making a positive impact both on campus and in the broader community!

Psychology Representative Candidates

Lidia “Jo” Godinez

Psychology Representative Candidate

Hello fellow Yellow Jackets, my name is Lidia (Jo) Godinez, and I am a first-year psychology major. I strive to work towards improving the quality of life on campus through supporting students with mental and physical health resources.

I believe that it is paramount for everyone to be heard and healthy, as I am well aware what it is like to experience the world as a disabled person of color. I work with a few organizations on campus, so if you seem me around, please feel free to say hi! I have experience working with fellow disabled students daily through EXCEL at GT, managing projects in Grand Challenges, spreading inclusivity just by hanging out at the LGBTQIA resource center and working with organizations that target Latin communities on and off campus.

I am currently working with YDSA to create a more medically accessible environment on campus for students needing resources from the Pharmabox! I intend to move forward and support them through those efforts.

Help me shape a wellness driven environment that embraces and engages in diversity of cultures and mindsets and vote for me as your Psychology Representative for SGA! I hope to see you around, and if you have questions, just ask!

Don’t worry, I hear you! No te preocupes, te escucho.

Public Policy Representative Candidates

Caelyn Grimes

Public Policy Representative Candidate

As a public policy student, I feel strongly about representing other PUBP students and Ivan Allen. Outside of classes, I have participated in multiple study abroad programs, including spending a semester in Washington, D.C. and getting involved in the federal government. I want to bring the experiences I’ve gained to this opportunity. As liberal arts students, we tend to be overlooked and underrepresented. I have personally felt this and would like to expand the influence of public policy more into the Undergraduate House of Representatives. I am deeply invested in the PUBP community and have been for years now. I would love the opportunity to advocate for my fellow students!

Mya Collins

Public Policy Representative Candidate

As a second-year Public Policy major with a Pre-Law minor, I know how crucial it is for students to have a real say in the decisions that shape our daily lives. That all starts with good representation. Studying policy has taught me not just how policies are made, but also how to break them down, weigh their impact, and advocate for the people they affect. Not only is being an advocate for those affected important but also being a voice for those left out of policy is just as critical, and unfortunately often a forgotten job. My strengths in creativity, public speaking, and clear communication help me every day, whether I’m in class, working as an assistant at the School of Public Policy, or engaging with my peers. I’m running for Student Government Association because I believe we need a stronger, more direct line of communication between students and the administration—one that not only ensures our voices are heard, but that they truly influence university policies. Currently, I am working with State Senator Wicks to help draft a bill to improve veteran care post-service. This task is not easy, but being a voice for those who don’t have one is my main principle. I understand what it takes to takes to turn a need into a reform. I promise to bring that same energy as the Public Policy representative. My experience as a high school student government leader, university ambassador, and team captain in both lacrosse and cross country has taught me how to effectively advocate for others and build relationships and consensus among different groups. I know what it takes to turn ideas into action.

If elected, I pledge to: Establish direct, consistent communication so your concerns are heard and addressed. Bring innovation and creativity to maximize student involvement and impact. Streamline student input into university policies and build a more transparent, responsive student government that truly represents you. Every student deserves to have their voice heard and their perspective valued.

With your support, I’ll work tirelessly to make sure that public policy students are supported and no longer stuck in the backseat at Georgia Tech!

Transfer Students Representative Candidates

Anthony Degliumberto

Transfer Students Representative Candidate

As a transfer student and someone who has worked closely with transfer students, I believe I’d make a great transfer student representative. Transferring here for the Fall 2023 semester was a daunting task, and I still remember the struggle of acclimating to this new environment. This past fall, I served as a team leader for a GT 2000 transfer student seminar class, where I helped 12 new transfers navigate their first semester here at Tech, lending helpful tips and advice throughout the entire semester. I also served as a Transfer2Tech Peer Mentor, where I helped mentor an additional 6 transfer students to set their footing on campus. Bottom line, I want the best for all transfers; I want to help provide the smoothest transition for everyone. As someone who’s a part of the Transfer Student Association, who’s helped lead a seminar class, and has served as a peer mentor, I’ve already proven that I will work for you. My experience serving transfers as a whole sets me apart from all the other candidates. A vote for me is a vote for representation and change for the entire transfer student community.
