Platform:

Graduate students are critical to the function and success of Georgia Tech as we perform innovative research across a multitude of disciplines, assist in the teaching and learning happening on campus, and promote the values of the institution as representatives at conferences and as alumni to the institution. As the Graduate Student Government President, I seek to assist the graduate student body to promote success and wellbeing on campus as well as increase access to resources for career readiness. The problems that graduate students face are complex in nature for domestic and international students which occur not only in the Atlanta area but for students that engage with the institution online as well. From my experience working with the Graduate Student Government Association (GSGA), I have seen that the effort and commitment of those working for the GSGA have real, positive impacts and uplift the voices of all graduate students. As Graduate Student Body President, I will work with the Tech administration to raise awareness and foster solution development related to the graduate student experience. Additionally, I will utilize a cabinet of passionate graduate Yellow Jackets to provide the best resources, policies, and events as they range from the social to the academic. There are three main issues that I and the Executive Vice President want to target. First, the Federal government has introduced policies that have large implications for graduate students and the function of the institution. As Graduate Student Body President and Executive Vice President, working with the Tech administration to provide graduate students with a clear understanding of the impact of these changes as well as articulating our experience in response to these changes will be a priority. Second, we want to strengthen interdepartmental efforts between GSGA and student groups. Many graduate students across campus and across different organizations are dedicated to improving the graduate student experience. By working closely with these groups, we can collaboratively better student engagement with all of the wonderful events and opportunities that exist for Tech students. Lastly, we want to tackle problems associated with Tech administration transparency. Decision making from the administration at times feels one-sided and vague. We want to take steps to improve the pipeline of administrative decision-making and information dissemination to ensure that graduate voices are heard at all levels from the beginning to the end of the decision-making process.
