The Undergraduate Executive Branch is home to numerous committees, each with its own unique role in the cabinet. Each committee is associated with a member of the executive cabinet which allows for effective communication across the organization. Committee chairs serve as the link between members of the committee and the cabinet. Apply to join a committee here!

Student Needs

Committee Chair: Kanishka Sindhwani

Student Needs deals with all advocacy involving student needs including but not limited to food insecurity, housing insecurity, and financial instability. Student Needs collaborates with campus and community entities including, but not limited to STAR Services and G. Wayne Clough Georgia Tech Promise Program to connect students in need to existing resources and create new resources to meet changing student needs. 

FreShGA
Committee Chair: TBA

FreShGA is a First-year Leadership Organization designed to engage first-year students in SGA advocacy. FreShGA plans The Final Stand, which is an all-campus event where students go to hang out, have fun, and participate in competitive sporting tournaments at the Campus Recreation Center. Leading up to the event, members of FreShGA reach out to local vendors and businesses to fundraise and acquire merchandise and other items to reward students who attend the event. Additionally, FreShGA examines campus-wide issues and advocates for change within Georgia Tech, as well as engages local Atlanta organizations to serve our greater Atlanta community.

Joint Vice President of Information Technology

IT Board is responsible for working on developing and maintaining the technology infrastructure and tools for SGA use and collaborating with campus partners such as OIT to improve technology services offered for the broader Georgia Tech community.

Course Critique – Vicente Miranda

Since 1976, the SGA’s Course Critique has served tens of thousands of students as a vital asset in planning their semesters. Course Critique is the one-stop-shop for getting information on courses. It provides easy access to class and teacher GPA history, syllabus information, and links to getting more info if necessary.

Infrastructure and Security – Sri Ranganathan Palaniappan

Infrasec focuses on e2e testing of the IT Board’s products, while also maintaining the security of those out for production. We work to ensure that what is on the front end corresponds to the backend through programs such as cypress. Any experience level is welcome, though experience in python, java, javascript, or mysql are appreciated. Any experience with basic cross site scripting or sql injections are great, as to help with our ongoing pentesting projects.

Internal Tools – Anson Goo

The Internal Tools team builds applications to automate processes and support internal SGA operations. In addition, the Internal Tools team is responsible for maintaining and updating SGA webpages. The Internal Tools team is currently working on a modified GT Scheduler with prerequisite capabilities and planning for multiple semesters.

IT Communications – TBA

The communications team implements technology-related policy advocated for by the SGA executive cabinet and strengthens the relationship between the IT Board and the Georgia Tech community. Members of the communication team identify problems that they see across campus and are able to pitch new projects that would solve the problems. A goal for this team is to work on several mini projects and undergo the development life cycle. We are looking for people interested in design, product management, as well as coding!  

JacketConnect – Chromilo Amin

JacketConnect is a project team designed to help new students and transfer students learn about programs and activities on campus. The application will allow students to provide their fields of interest in order to connect them with representatives from relevant programs and student organizations to hear about their experiences.

Career Fair Queueing App – George Parks / Saniya Srivasta

A new project that is working to create a new app with a student-facing and company-facing UI that allows students to sign up for a company’s virtual queue at a career fair instead of having to wait in person for their turn.

Joint Vice President of Finance

Joint Finance Committee

SGA’s Joint Finance Committee is a financial allocation body, chaired by the Joint Vice President of Finance, that is responsible for determining allocations of the Student Activity Fee. Other major responsibilities include but are not limited to, the preparation of a budget for over 400 student organizations, reviewing of bills, developing close relationships with student organizations, and ensuring the fair usage of allocated funds from the Student Activity Fee.

JVP Sustainability and Infrastructure

Committee Chair: Xiomara Salinas

The Infrastructure Committee strives to address and advocate for student needs regarding existing and upcoming campus infrastructure projects. Some infrastructure of interest includes but is not limited to parking decks, crosswalks, traffic signage, ADA accessibility, and new and existing building remodels. The goal of this committee is to bridge the gap between students and administration to help build a campus that best serves our needs.

Sustainability
Committee Chair: Kriss Ascencio-Parvy

The Sustainability Committee works to implement and supplement sustainability-focused initiatives on campus regarding resource waste reduction, recycling, and reuse. This committee aims to prioritize the desired sustainability initiatives of the student body by serving as a liaison between various campus organizations, students, and the GT administration.

Vice President of Academic Affairs

Academic Affairs

The Academic Affairs Committee strives to enrich Georgia Tech education by developing educational opportunities for students inside and outside the classroom through innovative, whole-person curriculum and supportive classroom practices and policies, such as student rules and regulations review, faculty-student development, and department and Institute curriculum initiatives. The committee continuously measures the efficiency and efficacy of policies implemented across campus to ensure effective and fair academic systems for students. Past and current initiatives include extending ‘Freshman Forgiveness’ to all undergraduate students, creating Mini-Mesters, helping revitalize APPH course curriculum, syllabus reform, improving international programs, increasing study abroad options, increasing support for transfer students, and increasing study spaces on campus.

Tech Square
Committee Chair: Turner Davis

This committee works with administrators and contractors in campus retail, advocating for students on matters including Tech Square restaurants, the GT Bookstore, vending machines, and the Community Market. This committee’s goal is to make Tech Square a space where students truly want to spend their time, advocating for retail and food options to become morefun, cheaper, and a better use of space!

Tech Dining
Committee Chair: Soumit Guntupalli

This committee aims to improve Tech Dining in terms of diversity and quality of food options, as well as make improvements to Student Center options. The Tech Dining committee is an advocate for students on expanding late night dining options, enhancing the dining experience in dining halls, and strengthening our catering programs.

Housing
Committee Chair: Nikki Majmudar

The housing committee aims to work closely with the Georgia Tech Housing Department, RA’s, students, RHA, and any other stakeholders to address concerns and gaps in the administration as well as devise viable solutions for these problems. The Housing committee will also have a role in the Student Advisory Board for Housing coming in Fall 2023.

Public Relations & Graphic Design
Committee Chair: Ana Paula Garcia

The Public Relations and Graphic Design Committee makes sure to effectively and creatively promote the events of SGA, engage with the diverse student population, and manage the public reputation of SGA through its various social media accounts (Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and Reddit). This committee works on a monthly newsletter, as well as frequent social media posts to promote SGA initiatives and events.

Community Relations Committee

The Community Relations Committee works to engage Tech students with programs around the Atlanta area and provide them with opportunities to meaningfully interact with nearby communities. The Committee will focus on connecting students with mutual aid opportunities for underserved and low income areas in Atlanta alongside creating more resources at or near campus like community fridges for the wellbeing of our neighbors in Midtown. Past events include GT Hawks Night and Discount Day at Krog Street Market. The committee looks forward to giving students enriching experiences to enjoy Atlanta culture alongside giving back to our city!

Government Relations

The Government Relations Committee is focused on increasing student engagement with local, state, and national governments this year. They do this by keeping students informed on governmental affairs on all levels, connecting students with their local representatives, encouraging students to volunteer at the on-campus voting precinct, and exposing students to the various opportunities available to work with their government officials. Past initiatives include hosting a debate among our four campus political organizations and leading a Diversity and Electability speaker series featuring Georgia House representatives.

Internal Operations

The Internal Operations committee supports SGA by working on projects that relate to the internal organizational aspect of SGA. Such projects include leadership development, SGA retreat, year-to-year transition, and collaboration within SGA branches. The Internal Operations committee also finds creative and innovative ways to bring awareness to work SGA does as well as provide the campus community with opportunities to interact with Student Government. Events like SGA week are planed by the Internal Operations committee.

Arts Committee
Committee Chair: Saumya Bajaj

The Arts Committee will serve with the purpose of supporting the arts community on campus. The goal of this committee is to unify the arts under one representative body that can advocate for the needs of the students involved with the arts here at Georgia Tech. This committee will strive to include all individuals interested or affiliated with art on campus to promote students’ growth and exploration in the arts. Aside from supporting arts-related student organizations, this committee will also research the means of funding and resources for art-related projects and initiatives.

Athletics
Committee Chair: Carson Veal

The Athletics Committee aims to increase enthusiasm for all sporting events and improve the game day experience for all students. The committee is focused on unifying the student and athlete experience and fostering collaboration in the athletics sphere. We aim to represent student concerns to the Administration and Georgia Tech Athletic Association and fostering collaboration in the athletics sphere. This committee also works to improve the lives of student athletes on campus.

Cultural and Diversity Affairs

CDAC seeks to understand, support, and advocate for students in the Georgia Tech community. Through its annual flagship Diversity and Inclusion Conference, regular engagement with student organizations, and community events throughout the year, CDAC helps advance a culture of inclusive excellence, in line with the Institute’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Joint Sexual Violence Advisory Committee
Committee Chair: Saif Khan

JSVAC’s vision is to create a campus where all students, faculty, and staff are protected and supported on all matters related to sexual and domestic violence. The Committee tracks and recommends changes in policy from the Federal and State to the University System and Institute levels. In addition to this, JSVAC works to expand the resources available on and off campus to survivors as well as suggest changes for pre-existing resources. As a whole, JSVAC serves as the eyes and ears on the ground about what is happening on campus with regard to sexual violence and related policies, and regularly connects with VOICE, Stamps Health Services, and senior administration to ensure that the student needs are being met.

Mental Health
Committee Chair: Dhwani Patel

This committee aims to expand mental health services, raise awareness of spiritual well-being, de-stigmatize mental health, infusing mental health into GT curriculum, promote financial and academic well-being, and supporting the various mental health needs of students. It works closely with mental health departments on campus including the Center for Assessment, Referral, and Education (CARE), the Counseling Center, and Stamps Psychiatry, mental health student organizations, and other groups involved in mental health advocacy on and around campus.

Public Health
Committee Chair: Suhaas Bonkur

Public Health initiatives focus on addressing the physical health/nutritional, community health, environmental health, and sexual health needs of students through education, public awareness campaigns, and student support programs. It works closely with different departments on campus including Health Initiatives and Stamps Health Services, student organizations involved in health advocacy and education, such as pre-health organizations, and other groups involved in public health advocacy on and around campus.
